St. John AA4 14/08/2010

  Today, 14/08/2010 St. John had our fun and lovely activity. We went to 4A1 first to learn about first aid. Sir Andy Choo came to teach us Acute Medical Infraction (AMI), Stroke, Diabetic Emergencies, Epilepsy, Hypothermia and the Human Body (Bone).

Epilepsy 发羊吊

Symptons: Fever for 4 days or above
Fever too long, brain will get burnt, then whole body will cramp.
Got two types, petit mal and grand mal.
Petit mal 轻微 - 10~20 minutes no reaction, like 发呆.
Grand mal 严重
Hypothermia 身体温度降低
*37 C / 98.6 F is normal temperature (Armpit's temperature is 37 C, rectum's is 37.2 C)
*Fever = 38 C, High fever = 40C, 40 C and above = Maybe will die.
If Hypothermia, 35 C, condition not so serious, mild.  If 26 C is extreme. Hypothermia usually happen at cold country. First aider need to give patient drink High Energy drinks (Example:Milo).If patient is indoor, give patient dry clothes to change; if outdoor, stuck dry clothes into patient's shirt. *Cannot let patient fell asleep, try to chat with patient.

The Human Body-Bone

Bone is for:

-Shape

-Movement

-Protect organs : Brain(Most important organ), Heart (2nd important), Lungs (3rd Important) and Kidney.

-Produce bloods

Adult has 206 bones, little child has 208 bones.

Skeleton

First top, 7 Cervical. 3rd and 4th most important, because they control the heartbeat. If it broken then will..C1-C7

Second, 12 Thororic T1-T12

Third, 5 Lumber, L1-L5

Fourth, 5 Fused Sacrum. F1-F5

Fifth, 4 Fused Coccyx. C01-c04.

After that, we went to kumpul. And we split into 8 groups, Team A,B,C,D,E,F,G,H. And started to play our station game~!

Team B - Song Yi Heng, Ng Yee Lin, Yap Yee Man, Wong Siok Weim, Joy Ng.

Team A -  Wong Guo Jin, How Chee Guan, Sim Le Ci, Yap Yee Ling, Wong Joyen, Lim Huey Sin.

Hehe this game very fun!!
